"Megaforce"

Apparently this band was HUGE one time back in the 70's - I didn't know that, but then again, I never listened to Foreigner and that style of bands back then. I can understand why though, since this is quality rock (with a bit of hard rock, AOR, melodic rock) that easily could have filled out the stadiums in the US. That said, I don't see any reason for this re-release, and it's not an album that appeals to me in any way. Oh well, at least it'll make a nice beer-coaster :-)

"The Bridge"

When I reviewed 707's so-called masterpiece, "Megaforce", a month ago, I was complaining about the reasons MTM had for re-releasing this album. It was apparently a timeless classic within the A.O.R. field, but to my best knowledge and especially to my taste, that album had absolutely no relevance for the scene today. Well, MTM decided to also re-release the very first album by 707, called "The Bridge", and with fear in heart (or perhaps more disgust), I put "The Bridge" into the CD-player. Well, this actually ain't half bad. Definitely better songs, more rawness, and less pomp and cheese. Still - it's the Foreigner, Boston, REO Speedwagon style, and it's not really my favorite musical style on earth, but to be honest, "The Bridge" has some good songs, and I prefer this over "Megaforce".
