PURE INC. INTERVIEW |
Having seen Pure Inc. performing live in Copenhagen, I was of course happy to see their new album in my pile of albums to review and I really felt I had to do an interview with the band, as they are among those bands that deserve media and fan attention. With a blend of metal, hard rock and grunge (Soundgarden) this should be something of interest for most people. I had a small email correspondance with lead singer, Gianni:

Hey guys, congrats for the new album…pretty decent stuff there...:-)
Thanx man.
1) How has the reactions been to this new album, compared to the previous album?
I guess and hope better for the sales but we don't know at the moment but we feel that the promotion work is going well. I think people in the scene know who we are and we're doing.
2) Can you feel increased interest after your European tour w. Doro (I, myself was one of those that bought your album after the show, after watching such a strong performance)?
Of course it's always very important to be on tour, learn different cultures and meet many people so it's obvious that we transport all these feelings and memories in our sound and so we increase as a band.
3) It seems to me that you are a bit more straight-forward on the new album? What was your aim, when writing and producing the album?
The Aim was to Rock but that is always the aim, furthermore I guess this album, because we "increased" :-) has more a line the songs we wrote are all real pure and inc. while being in the studio we felt that this is the sound we like and we want to produce it's all very fresh stuff.
4) Who's the main writer in the band (lyrically/musically)?
Basically, Sandro(Guitar) and me musically but Gentman(Bass) wrote "Break Free" for example. Lyrically I prefer doing it by my own coz' I think it's a singers part, not that I wouldn't like the others writing the lyrics but in my opinion the singer can feel it and so performing it better and I love doing it too. I guess the rest of the band agrees with the things I write and the message I want to bring.
5) Do you live from the music or do you still keep day-jobs? If yes, what do you do?
Well unfortunately we have to work but I think it's quite ok otherwise we would become alcoholic or workaholic, whatever. I work as a technician for a heating counter company.
6) Since I almost know the answer to the previous question, have you ever thought about giving up on the whole thing?
Well not really, we get sometimes frustrated about many things for example not well recognized in our country especially when playing open-airs or getting any airplays at the radio stations but at the end we point the middle finger and keep doing what we best can, which is ROCKING.
7) Any festival jobs coming up this summer?
Hehe, this question fits with question "6" not a lot we wish we had more but I guess we're too hard.-) or they are too scared or maybe they just simply don't like us, whatever we smile and……. (See the last verse of question "6")
8) Any plans of a new tour?
Yep, we do a little promotion tour around Germany with The Traceelords in May. That's it for the moment maybe we go on tour with MetallicaJ or with Madonna maybe with Robbie Williams that would be great so I can sing some swing.
9) Finally, a question I always end my interviews with: What's your favourite beer?
Hhm….aaäähhh……I would say: KOPPABERGS :-)
