I was given the chance to meet up with Magnus Rosén of Hammerfall to do an interview, but since I'm kind of getting tired of seeing this band featured in all magazines around the world, I thought it would be fun to do this in a totally different way. So my "wicked" plan was to have Magnus name the first 2 words/things that popped into his mind, when presented with my question. Magnus liked the idea and we sat down for what has become quite a different perspective on Hammerfall…

1) The first thing I'm going to mention is of course "Hammerfall":
|
|
"That's easy, BIG SHOW and GOOD SONGS!"
|
|
2) Okay, then how about "Solo projects":
|
|
"I'll probably have to mention "IMAGINE A PLACE" and "REMINISCENCE", since it's my own two solo albums. They are more jazz / fusion albums, and they are released on Heptagon Records, which is owned by our drummer Anders."
|
|
3) Let us go back in time, and start with "Glory To The Brave":
|
|
"Well, this was the band's FIRST CRUSADE - so that's definitely what I come to think off. And then I'll have to mention the BALLAD."
|
|
4) "Legacy Of Kings":
|
|
"Hmmm, an album with a STRONG, HEAVY SOUND - and I'll mention the title track "LEGACY OF KINGS"."
|
|
5) How about "Renegade":
|
|
"This time we were much more "RADIO ORIENTED". Hehehe, I also come to think about the HORSE ON THE FRONT COVER, hahaha."
|
|
6) And then the new disc; "Crimson Thunder":
|
|
"VERY GOOD - and GOLD DISC".
|
|
7) Allright, now let's talk about the most important thing of it all; "Heavy Metal":
|
|
"LIVE SHOWS - and STRAIGHT HARD ROCK"
|
|
8) "Music business":
|
|
"It's HARD, but at the same time very INTERESTING."
|
|
9) What about "Touring":
|
|
"When we're on tour most of my time is spent on PRACTISING ON MY INSTRUMENT, and SIGHTSEEING."
|
|
10) Let's talk about the two support bands, that you have with you for this tour; "Dream Evil":
|
|
"NICE GUYS - GOOD HEAVY METAL."
|
|
11) And "Masterplan":
|
|
"VERY GOOD MUSIC - and of course JORN LANDE … one of the best singers in the world."
|
|
12) And now a tricky one; "Groupies":
|
|
"Hahaha, NOTHING WE HAVE :-) ... and LOTS OF MAKE-UP!"
|
|
13) How do you feel about "Journalists":
|
|
"Usually I'd have to say that it's a GOOD EXPERIENCE and FUN."
|
|
14) Really? Okay, then how about "Clichés":
|
|
"It can be GOOD, like in the case of our music, where we use all the clichés of hard rock - but of course it can be BAD when it's overdone and without any sense."
|
|
15) "Sweden":
|
|
"NICE NATURE and NICE PEOPLE."
|
|
16) "The European Union":
|
|
"I'm not sure if it's good to put all the POWER IN ONE PLACE - but for sure it's EASY WITH THE EURO MONEY".
|
|
17) "George Bush":
|
|
"I think he is a DANGEROUS man - very STRAIGHTFORWARD in his politics."
|
|
18) "Freedom":
|
|
"When I hear the word freedom I think of DEMOCRACY and NATURE."
|
|
19) What are the powers that are "Changing the world":
|
|
"Definitely GREENPEACE and AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL."
|
|
20) And the last question - what do you think about the "Future";
|
|
"I'm sure it'll be INTERESTING - I'm HOPEFUL."
